The month has come to an end, and we are pleased to present the most noteworthy new acquisitions of the Museum. Archive. Library (MAL) for May 2026.

Museum: In May 2026, our museum acquired a Knights Templar sword dating from the 1840s—1850s. By its design, the sword represents a predecessor of the later Boston-pattern swords. The blade bears the maker's mark of W. H. Horstmann & Sons, a manufacturer active between 1840 and 1859.

Archive: A Knight Templar Certificate documenting the initiation of Simon Neilson into the Order of the Knights Templar of Jerusalem. The certificate was issued in Belfast, Ireland, on February 20,1817.

Library: Volume X of State Papers and Publick Documents of the United States — a collection of official documents of the United States government, diplomatic correspondence, international treaties, presidential messages, and other public records from the early period of American history. This volume was published in Boston by Thomas B. Wait in 1819. The compilation was edited by William Ames. First issued in the early nineteenth century, the series became one of the earliest major collections of official documents of the United States.
