Museum. Archive. Library (MAL): January 2026

The month has come to an end, and we are pleased to present the most notable new acquisitions of Museum. Archive. Library (MAL) for January 2026.

Museum.

In January 2026, the Museum acquired a Knight Templar sword from Salem Town Commandery No. 16 (Auburn, New York). The sword belonged to Silas H. Remington (1841—1918), a Civil War veteran and sergeant of the 8th New York Cavalry Regiment.

Archive.

Among the most significant archival additions is Collection 8: Documents of Cyrus Chapter No. 36, R.A.M. (1923—1983) from Richmond, Missouri. This collection includes numerous annual Returns to Cyrus Chapter No. 36, R.A.M., providing valuable documentation on the chapter’s history and activities.

Library.

The Library was enriched by Antoine Fabri, Rationalium in tertiam partem Pandectarum, Volume V (final), published in Aurelianae (Orléans) in 1626. This work is an early seventeenth-century legal treatise on Roman law, printed in France. Its author was one of the leading European jurists of late humanism, an advisor to the Duke of Savoy, and president of Savoy’s highest court.
