On August 31,2026, Cherkas Global University (CGU) held a presidential election for the first time in the history of the institution. As a result of the vote, Professor Sergey Degtyarev, Doctor of Historical Sciences, was elected President of CGU.
In accordance with the Bylaws of Cherkas Global University, Professor Degtyarev assumes office on September 1,2026. His presidential term will be four years.
The election of the University’s first president marks a new stage in the development of Cherkas Global University and the continued formation of its institutional governance system.
The CGU community congratulates Professor Sergey Degtyarev on his election and wishes him every success in leading the University, advancing new academic and organizational initiatives, and contributing to the further development of CGU.

Sergey I. Degtyarev was born on April 27,1978, in Sumy.
1995—2000 — Studied at Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko, majoring in History and Law and qualifying as a teacher of History and Law.
2009 — Defended his dissertation and was awarded the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences (PhD).
2015 — Defended his doctoral dissertation and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences (Dr.).
2014—present — Researcher at the Laboratory of World Civilizations, Cherkas Global University.
2018—present — Director of the Eastern European Scientific Information Agency, Cherkas Global University.
September 1,2026 — Elected President of Cherkas Global University for a four-year term.
Author of more than 300 scholarly and educational publications, including 5 monographs and 70 articles indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science.
